MAYNARD, Mass., August 18, 2008 – Covergence®, Inc., the leading provider of next-generation Session Border Control and Session Management solutions to the Fortune 1000, today announced that it has named Gil Kaufman as its Vice President of Engineering. Kaufman has been leading high technology product development teams to increased productivity, and success for more than 30 years and most recently served in executive positions with BigBand Networks, Inc. (NASDAQ: BBND) and Cisco Systems (NASDAQ: CSCO).
In his new role, Kaufman will be responsible for overseeing the engineering organization and development process while CTO and Co-Founder Ken Kuenzel will continue to drive the company’s overall technical direction and product architecture.

Most recently, Kaufman was an executive vice president of research and development at BigBand Networks, Inc. While there, he successfully built, managed and integrated a strong distributed engineering environment across multiple projects and product lines and guided the company through its successful initial public offering in 2007. Kaufman has also successfully led high technology product development teams to increased productivity, control and success at Cisco Systems, Inc., Xyplex, and Motorola.
